'We accept her retirement with regret," said Dr. Haywood Wilson, interim chancellor at WSSU. "It will be very difficult to replace her, but we wish her well in her decision." Newell, who came to Winston-Salem State in 1965, developed and implemented WSSU's young but growing computer science program.
